1. The Service
Qidu is a software service that keeps technical documentation in step with the code it describes. You connect one or more GitHub repositories. When a pull request is merged on a connected repository, Qidu reads that pull request’s title, description and unified diff and the source files around the change, reads the documentation pages you have pointed us at, works out which of those pages the change has made inaccurate, drafts the corrections with a large language model, and holds them in the product for your review. For documentation kept in Git, approved edits arrive as a draft pull request on your repository with the evidence behind them; where a repository does not support draft pull requests, Qidu opens an ordinary pull request instead. For documentation Qidu hosts, a Zendesk Help Center or Notion pages, approved edits are written onto the page. Qidu also answers questions from your documentation and takes requests for documentation changes, in the product and in the tools you connect.
Qidu proposes; you decide. Nothing Qidu drafts is published until a person on your side approves it. In Git, every edit arrives as a pull request on a branch we name qidu/docs-…, and a person on your side reviews and merges it. Qidu never merges a pull request, never pushes to your default branch, and limits its edits to the documentation paths you configure. The service may evolve over time. We may add, change, or remove features in the ordinary course of product development.
2. Eligibility and Account Registration
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old and able to form a legally binding contract to use Qidu. By creating an account you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate. You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account.
3. Repository Access
Qidu reaches your code through a GitHub App that you install and that you can uninstall at any time from GitHub. The installation grants Qidu the ability to read the repositories you select, write to them and open pull requests on them. GitHub scopes that permission to whole repositories, not folders; Qidu’s restriction to your documentation paths is enforced by Qidu, not by GitHub. You are responsible for choosing which repositories to connect and for having the authority to grant that access — do not connect a repository you are not entitled to share with a third party.
Uninstalling the GitHub App, or removing a repository from the installation, stops Qidu from reading or writing to it. Disconnecting GitHub in Qidu, or deleting your workspace, uninstalls the App for you. Uninstalling does not by itself delete what we have already stored; see Data Deletion for how to remove that.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Qidu to:
- Connect a repository you do not own or are not authorized to grant third-party access to.
- Obtain, copy, or redistribute source code or documentation belonging to someone else.
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Violate GitHub’s Terms of Service or the acceptable-use policies of any other platform the service depends on.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service, except as permitted by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, including by introducing malware, attempting to gain unauthorized access, or deliberately exhausting the rate limits and processing capacity the service shares between customers.
We may suspend or terminate access for any account that violates this section.
5. Customer Data and Licenses
You retain ownership of your customer data, which for this service means your source code and the changes to it, your pull request titles and descriptions, your documentation content, and what Qidu reads from the tools you connect (Slack messages, Linear issues, Zendesk tickets and emails that ask Qidu something). By using the service you grant Qidu a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to access, store, process, and transmit that data solely to provide the service to you: to read a change, decide which pages it affects, draft corrections and publish the ones you approve, and answer your questions.
We will not sell your customer data, and we do not use your source code, diffs or documentation to train general-purpose machine-learning models. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is read, what is stored, and who else sees it.
6. AI Drafting and Your Choice of Provider
Documentation edits are drafted by a large language model. By default Qidu performs that step itself: the pull request diff, the source files read for it and the documentation pages we flagged are sent to Anthropic’s API for inference. If you prefer that your code never reaches our model provider, Qidu also supports a bring-your-own-compute mode in which the drafting request is handed to a client that you run against your own model entitlement, and Qidu itself calls no model provider at all. Reading the pull request, indexing the documentation and mapping the change onto pages happen on Qidu’s servers in both modes.
Drafts are suggestions, not conclusions. They may be wrong, incomplete, or confidently mistaken, and you are responsible for reviewing every proposed edit before merging it.
7. Third-Party Platforms
Qidu integrates with third-party platforms, among them GitHub, Google Cloud, Anthropic, Clerk, Stripe, Vercel, Resend, TypeSafe and, if you connect them, Slack, Linear, Notion and Zendesk. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms. Qidu is not responsible for the availability or behavior of those platforms, and we may need to suspend related features if a platform changes or terminates its API.
8. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through Stripe. Plans carry a monthly limit on the number of documentation jobs a workspace may run; work beyond that limit is skipped until the limit resets or the plan is upgraded. You can cancel at any time from within the product; cancellation stops future billing but does not entitle you to a refund of fees already paid. We do not offer refunds for partial periods. All fees are exclusive of taxes, which you are responsible for paying.
9. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time: uninstall the GitHub App, disconnect your repositories, and delete your workspace. The Data Deletion page explains what each of those removes and how to have the rest deleted. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision of the service to you would create a security or legal risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. AI-GENERATED DOCUMENTATION EDITS AND ANSWERS MAY BE INACCURATE, INCOMPLETE, OR MISLEADING; EDITS ARE HELD FOR YOUR APPROVAL PRECISELY SO THAT YOU CAN REVIEW THEM, AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING AND APPROVING EVERY CHANGE BEFORE IT IS MERGED INTO YOUR REPOSITORY OR PUBLISHED.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL Qidu, LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE. 12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Qidu, LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the service, your customer data, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you by email or through the product, and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and Qidu, LLC agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service.
